Research summary
This work couples radiation and atmospheric motion in a two-dimensional model of Jupiter’s stratosphere and upper troposphere. It examines how gas abundances, polar haze, and mechanical forcing shape temperatures and meridional circulation. The simulations show that circulation patterns depend on the treatment of drag and haze, and identify improved wave forcing and haze observations as important steps toward explaining the observed atmosphere.
